Between January 22 nd and February 18 th, 2004, sixteen teacher-training institutions participated in a pilot of the Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) examination program to help evaluate the validity, reliability and scalability of the assessments for use in determining General Preparation as specified in the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE�s) National Education Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS*T). Also explored, as part of the pilot, was (1) the role that an online digital transcript might play in communicating results from this assessment and information contained in e-portfolio and other instruments that a teacher might use to measure their development at other stages in their career, and (2) the identification of specific models and best practices that education schools could consider in implementing IC3.
